How can we help?

Sapida is built and supported by an independent developer, and every message gets read. If something's not working, you've found a bug, or you have an idea that would make the app better, get in touch:

Email: hello@sapida.app

Please include your iPhone model and iOS version if you're reporting a problem — it makes things much quicker to fix. You can also use Report a Bug in the app's Settings, which pre-fills those details for you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I log a meal?

There are a few ways, and all of them are quick:

Describe it: type or dictate your meal in plain English — "two eggs on toast with butter and an orange juice". On-device AI splits it into individual foods with portions and nutrition, which you can review and adjust before saving.

Scan it: scan a product's barcode, or point the camera at a nutrition label, and Sapida fills in the details.

Search or reuse: search the food databases directly, or save meals you eat often as templates and favourites for one-tap logging.

How does trigger analysis work?

Sapida looks at what you ate in the hours before each symptom entry and, over time, calculates which ingredients and FODMAP groups are most strongly associated with your symptoms. All of this is computed on your device.

The more consistently you log — both meals and symptoms, including days you feel fine — the more reliable the correlations become. Sapida shows associations in your data; it's a tool for spotting patterns to discuss with a healthcare professional, not medical advice or a diagnosis.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your food diary, symptoms and Apple Health data are stored only on your device — there's no account, no Sapida server and no analytics or tracking. The only data that leaves your phone is the food name or barcode sent to a nutrition database when you do a lookup. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I manage or cancel my Sapida+ subscription?

Sapida+ is billed through your Apple account, so it's managed in iOS, not in the app: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sapida (or the App Store app → your profile picture → Subscriptions), where you can switch plans or cancel.

Note that deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I export or delete my data?

Export: Sapida+ subscribers can export their full history as CSV or JSON from the app and share or save it anywhere — handy for appointments with a dietitian or GP.

Delete: you can delete individual entries at any time, or wipe everything at once with Clear All Data in the app's Settings. Deleting the app also removes all Sapida data, since everything is stored on-device.

Why can't I find a food when I search or scan?

Sapida looks products up in Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central. They cover a huge range, but not everything — some regional or own-brand products are missing or incomplete.

If a food isn't found, you can scan its nutrition label instead, or create a custom food with your own values — it's saved for reuse and works offline.
